Felix Kuehn and Alex Strick van Linschoten, Western researchers who are living without security protection in Kandahar, Afghanistan, spent the past two years editing and overseeing the translation of the autobiography of Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, the former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan and a core member of the early Taliban movement.
“My Life with the Taliban” has been reviewed by Ahmed Rashid in The New York Review of Books and by The Times’s David Rohde in The New Republic, who praised it as offering “valuable insight into the Taliban’s worldview.”
