The fireball, bright as a thousand suns, quickly reaches the Capitol building. The structure shakes, yet stands. But inside, everything flammable -- from clothes to curtains -- bursts into flames.

Soon, 40 square miles are covered by roaring flames. Fingers of fire stretch as far as eight miles from the blast.

The D.C. area is home to 5.3 million people. All who haven't died within the first hour of the attack are in desperate need.

My Comment: In defense of the administration, I do not think anyone can adequately prepare for a catastrophic emergency. Millions of casualties will easily overwhelm this country's health and emergency infrastructure. The burn victims alone will be enough to flood every emergency ward and burn unit in this country .... and then some.

The key is to remain vigilant to make sure that such a possibility does not happen, and to put our resources into agencies and institutions that will assist us in making sure that such a horror will never visit our homeland.
