Osama bin Laden has warned that Americans would be killed in retaliation if a US court sentences Khaled Sheikh Mohammed to death, according to an audio recording broadcast today.
Mr Mohammed, the self-confessed mastermind of the September 11th attacks, is expected to stand trial in a civilian court in America next year. The Obama Administration has already indicated that the toughest sanction is likely to be imposed.
