Spain's Governments Acts To Minimize It's Judicial

Spain And Venezuela End Spat Over Terror Accusation -- New York Times/Reuters

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain and Venezuela united to condemn all forms of terrorism on Saturday, ending a spat between the two countries that arose after a Spanish judge alleged links between the Venezuelan government and ETA rebels.

Spain annoyed Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez earlier this week by asking for an explanation of the judge's accusations that Venezuela had helped Basque ETA rebels and Colombian FARC guerrillas plot possible attacks on Spanish soil.

Spanish foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos talked to Chavez on Thursday to try to calm the row.

My Comment:
The Spanish Government did not expect such a strong indictment from its courts on Venezuelan involvement in terrorist activities and organizations. They are now trying to minimize it's impact .... but the damage and indictment has already been done.
