WASHINGTON—Top Central Intelligence Agency officials were concerned over whether it was proper to have destroyed videotapes showing the interrogation of terrorism suspects, according to internal documents released Thursday.
The documents, released to the American Civil Liberties Union in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit and then given to the media, include a memorandum suggesting that the then-head of the CIA, Porter Goss, agreed with the decision to destroy the tapes. A spokeswoman for Mr. Goss didn't immediately respond late Thursday to a request for comment.
