The USAF needs senior leaders that will take it through next few decades. Currently, this capability does not exist.

There are some in the USAF that still think they will see 80 aircraft per year (PDF) when F-35 full-rate production kicks in. This will not happen. With ever increasing costs projected in the F-35 program, it is unlikely that the USAF will see 48 F-35s per year during full rate production when full-rate production starts. The money does not exist. Senior USAF leaders are not being realistic.
