Senators Voice Doubts On Nuke Treaty -- Washington Times

Conservatives demand no missile-defense limits.

Key Senate conservatives are holding off support for the new arms treaty signed by President Obama and his Russian counterpart on Thursday and are seeking promises that the agreement will not limit missile defenses, arms verification and nuclear modernization efforts.

"Republicans have made clear for months what needs to be done in order to move this process; there's been no ambiguity in our position on a strong missile defense, nuclear triad and the need to verify any treaty," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican.

My Comment:
With a majority of Americans opposing this new treaty, opposition to this treaty from the US Senate will only grow with time .... and it will be an issue in November's Congressional elections.

Can you provisde us with evidence that an anti-treaty support is growing amonst Americans? Of course the GOP is against it. They are against anything that gets done by the Democratic president...That does not make the treaty a bad one. It merely notes the known-in-advance GOP reaction.Ps: the Wash Times is a moonie owned conservative paper, supporting the GOP.

Everyone I know supports this treaty... Over 50 well-educated baby boomer friends of mine, not some lightweight tea partiers who carry water for Glenn Beck and the Party of NO.

Reagan, Kissinger, Sam Nunn and a host of others would love to see more progress in this regard.

Keep going, Obama. Every time you try to do the right thing, expect a fight from the right wing.
