Did Russia Intentionally Kill Captured Somali Pirates?



Somalia Rips Russian Navy For Casting Captured Pirates Adrift -- Globe And Mail

Pirates vow revenge on any Russians they capture after crew of hijackers abandoned in Gulf on Aden without navigation equipment or much hope of survival.

Somalia’s transitional government called on Russia on Friday to explain why it had cut 10 Somali pirates adrift in the Gulf on Aden without navigation equipment or much hope of survival.

Russian forces last week stormed a hijacked oil tanker in a rescue operation that killed one pirate. Russia said 10 others arrested were later set loose aboard one of the small vessels they used in the attack.

My Comment: I do not know if the deaths of these Somali pirates was intentional or not .... but I do know that a message has been made very clear to the Somali pirates. Hijack a Russian ship .... be prepared for the consequences.

This video of 7:05 minutes length is actually from 2009, not having anything to do with recent recapture of the Russian merchant vessel Moscow University. I found a copy posted to Youtube on February 23, 2010. It seems to have been created / edited on April 29, 2009 following an incident occurring on April 27, '09. Solomon and I have discussed this at his SNAFU! blog in the following thread:
