Trying To Portray "Being The Victim" In Order To Justify "Being A Terrorist"

Times Square Bomber: Pakistani Novels Shed Light On Why -- McClatchy News

Mirroring reports about the real-life case of Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square suspect, Mohsin Hamid's "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" and H.M. Naqvi's "Home Boy" are set in New York and feature Pakistanis who work in the financial industry and are psychologically damaged by the aftermath of 9/11. The fictional characters rediscover their Islamic identities.

My Comment:
I am underwhelmed by this story. Unfortunately .... for many Pakistanis who follow the Muslim faith, trying to justify mass murder and to blame others for their actions is a continuation of what Pakistani society has been saying for the past few decades. Economic stagnation is due to the fault of others, terrorism is the fault of others, international conspiracies and cabals .... whether they are Jewish, Hindu, American ... whatever .... there is a belief that they exist and are targeting Pakistan. Throw in the constant anti-Americanism, anti-Indian, etc... in the media, political, and educational institutions .... there is a ready and willing audience to eat up such novels and beliefs.
