Pakistan Has Driven Militants From All But One Region, Says Army -- The Telegraph
The officer spearheading Pakistan's fight against the Taliban says his forces are close to driving militants from all but one of the country's lawless tribal regions that border Afghanistan.
Major General Tariq Khan, Inspector General of the Frontier Scouts, who have provided law and order since colonial times, said he would wind down major operations within the next two months.
He said it would leave only North Waziristan – a rugged, mountainous region that has drawn Jihadi groups from across Pakistan – in the hands of the militants.
