Armed Forces Numbers 'Could Shrink By One Quarter', Think Tank Claims -- The Telegraph
The Armed Forces could see their numbers cut by 25 per cent in less than a decade as Britain’s defence budget shrinks, a respected think-tank has said.
The Royal United Services Institute also predicts large reductions in the number of Royal Navy warships and military aircraft as public spending falls sharply from next year.
The RUSI paper was written by Professor Malcolm Chalmers, who advised the Labour government on its Green Paper on defence earlier this year.

My Comment: With a broke and empty treasury, Britain's options are very limited. All Government programs will be cut .... and the UK military will be one of those on top of the list. The real question should be on what will be left when all the cutting is done, and my prediction is that only half of what exists today will be left to function in some small "home-defense" capacity 10 years from now.
Sighhh .... one can now say with certainty that the days of the great and formidable British military are now long gone.
