Turkish Rebels Hit Military Base, Kill 6 -- UPI

ANKARA, Turkey, July 20 (UPI) -- Kurdish rebels attacked a Turkish military unit near the Iraqi border, killing six soldiers, officials said.

Officials said the Kurdistan Workers' Party militants attacked the unit Monday near the border town of Cukurca, Radio France Internationale reported Tuesday.

Several soldiers were wounded in the skirmish, but officials said they didn't know about casualties among insurgents, officials said.
