Gulf Spill: Doubts Over Key BP Oil Well Test -- BBC

Doubt remains over whether to proceed with a key test to see if the Gulf of Mexico oil spill can be stopped.

An "integrity" test of the well would show if shutting all valves on a new cap would safely stop the flow of oil.

But experts are reviewing whether it is possible that closing off the BP well even temporarily for the test could cause it to be damaged.

It had been expected that with the new containment cap in place BP would start the vital pressure test on Tuesday.

But this has been delayed for "further analysis".
