Kidnapping Spaniards Pays-Off For Al Qaeda



Spanish 'Paid al-Qaeda Terrorists £5.6m To Free Two Hostages’ -- The Telegraph

The Spanish government paid al-Qaeda terrorists £5.6 million to free two Spanish aid workers in North Africa after a nine-month kidnapping ordeal, according to reports.

Albert Vilalta, 35 and Roque Pascual, 50 were reunited with their families in Barcelona, early on Tuesday after being freed from the desert camp in Mali, where they had been held captive for 268 days.

The Spanish government has declined to comment on reports that they paid out nearly seven million euros to secure the release of three workers who were seized last November when travelling across Mauritania in a convoy, distributing aid for the NGO Barcelona Solidarity Action.

My Comment: It is now open season on Spanish citizens in this part of the world. Rewarding terror groups only emboldens them .... and others .... to continue their practice. Everyone knows this .... but still .... Spain is paying off criminals that will result in more kidnappings and abductions.
