Woodward's Book 'The Obama Wars' Reveals Deep Divisions And Disagreements On The Afghan War
WASHINGTON — Some of the critical players in President Obama’s national security team doubt his strategy in Afghanistan will succeed and have spent much of the last 20 months quarreling with one another over policy, personalities and turf, according to a new book.
The book, “Obama’s Wars,” by the journalist Bob Woodward, depicts an administration deeply torn over the war in Afghanistan even as the president agreed to triple troop levels there amid suspicion that he was being boxed in by the military. Mr. Obama’s top White House adviser on Afghanistan and his special envoy for the region are described as believing the strategy will not work.

My Comment: If even half of what Woodward's book is saying is true .... the Taliban (after reading the book) will now have a very good idea on what is happening in the upper most levels of the U.S. Government .... and (I am sure) they will be walking away with the utmost confidence that if they stick with their war plans and their agenda, President Obama and his government will eventually abandon Afghanistan to its own fate.
In short, the New York Times analysis of Woodward's book gives the impression that because of White House disagreements and a total lack of direction and commitment from the top, the U.S. and its allies are now facing a disaster in the Afghan war that will eventually produce a political disaster back in Washington.
I can only hope that Woodward is wrong .... but I strongly suspect that he .... like myself .... are seeing a train wreck in U.S. Afghan war strategy and are now deeply worried on what will be the consequences and final outcome from such a disaster. His book is a warning .... but I have my doubts that the White House will be listening.
