Muqtada Sadr's political movement says it will support the prime minister for a second term.
Reporting from Baghdad — Shiite cleric Muqtada Sadr's political movement Friday announced its support for Iraq Prime Minister Nouri Maliki's bid for a second term, a significant boost for Maliki despite ongoing obstacles over who will lead the country.
Rival Shiite religious factions are in negotiations to form an alliance with Maliki's chief competitor, former prime minister Ayad Allawi.

My Comment: After having no government for 6 months .... Iraqis are now stucked with the old one. As for the U.S., the choice is clear .... best to have the devil that you know in power, than no one at all.

I'm thinking the only way you take a country that doesn't quite grasp the concept of 'liberty' and get them to is to keep a friendly government there for a while, as we have been, and begin unloading the story of America to the populace, and get them learning the concepts of liberty that way. If we go through their tribes and sects we'll get nowhere. Its either the population having their Iraqi revolution for liberty or its a single tribe dominating all the others again, eventually. This from a person who doesn't know jack or squat, I'll freely admit.
