Winston Churchill once said: ‘The first virtue in a soldier is endurance of fatigue; courage is only the second virtue.’

Our greatest wartime leader was rarely wrong. The ability to carry on when you are almost dead on your feet, to continue to hold your ground when others have faltered, is what, I believe, goes to make up a good soldier.

My Comment: There is very little that I disagree with here. To defeat an enemy one must approach such a conflict from multiple angles .... unfortunately in Afghanistan this is not being done. Safe sanctuaries in Pakistan, receiving aid and assistance from locals in Afghanistan, unreliable and ineffective Afghan forces .... sighhh .... from where I am standing the Taliban have plenty of time to recuperate, rearm, train, and continue the battle.

If our forces were not stretched and limited .... this war could easily go the other way. But with rules of engagement that limit our forces from fighting, manpower shortages to continue the fight. etc.... etc.... etc .... our ineffectiveness has resulted in us making the Taliban one of the most effective fighting forces that we have faced in a long time, and if trends continue .... they will win.
