Another Commission Report On Slashing The U.S. Defense Budget



Domenici-Rivlin Panel: Freeze Spending; Kill F-35, V-22, EFV -- Defense News

A bipartisan debt-reduction panel is proposing freezing U.S. defense spending at 2011 levels, urging termination of costly programs like the F-35 fighter and V-22 tiltrotor, and a much smaller American military.

Washington, with midterm congressional elections in the rear view, is expected soon to turn its collective attention to paring the escalating federal deficit. Obama administration officials, as well as lawmakers and budget experts from both parties, are warning that without far-reaching reforms, the nation will fall into deeper economic doldrums and cease to be a world power.
