Colombia's FARC's Leader Reported Killed In Airstrike

Colombia: Airstrike May Have Killed Rebel Commander -- Latin American Herald Tribune

BOGOTA – Soldiers may have killed a top leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, guerrilla group in an airstrike on a rebel camp in southern Colombia, President Juan Manuel Santos said.

He announced in the northern city of Barranquilla that the head of the FARC’s Southern Bloc, alias “Fabian Ramirez,” was likely killed Saturday in the strike on the jungle-clad camp.

Ramirez, whose given name is Jose Benito Cabrera Cuevas and who is wanted for extradition by the United States, was “one of the (armed forces’) high-value targets,” Santos added.
