Hajj Begins For Millions Of Muslims

Millions Of Muslims Begin Hajj Pilgrimage -- Xinhuanet

RIYADH, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of thousands of Muslims began Sunday the annual pilgrimage of hajj, pouring from the holy city of Mecca to the tent city of Mina.

This year's pilgrimage season is estimated to be attended by up to 2.5 million pilgrims.

The trip to Mina marks the launch of the annual season of hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam.

Islam stipulates that every able-bodied adult follower who can financially afford the trip must perform hajj at least once in a lifetime.
