My Comment:
All President's and U.S. elections are influenced by national security. While the economy has always been priority #1, if people feel uncomfortable with what is happening on the international scene .... for a small and significant percentage of the electorate this will influence their vote.

For President Obama, I still strongly believe his biggest weakness will be the economy. The wars abroad have dropped off the radar for most people, and international trends and developments hold limited interested for everyone with the exception of those in the media and the Washington political establishment.

But throw in one big "9/11" terror strike, or a new war somewhere in the world .... all bets are then off, and anything can then happen.
