RIVER GUARD - A U.S. Army soldier stands guard along a river that runs through the village of Hazara Qala, Afghanistan, Feb. 1, 2011. The soldier is assigned to the 10th Mountain Division's 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery battery. The soldiers visited Hazara Qala to assist the villagers by delivering barriers to help stop erosion caused by the river, which had put various buildings, including a school and a mosque, at risk. Defence Minister Liam Fox Slams Germany And Italy For Failing To Do Their Bit In War In Afghanistan -- The Daily Mail

Liam Fox yesterday delivered a stinging rebuke to Germany and Italy for failing to pull their weight in Afghanistan.

The Defence Secretary took the extraordinary step of naming and shaming Britain's European allies for not playing their part in the war against the Taliban.

He blasted the two countries for refusing to fully support the Nato mission by neglecting to pay for extra helicopters.
