Robert Gates: Troops To Be Tested In Spring -- Politico
NATO forces have made great progress in Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Tuesday, but they will soon face an “acid test” as winter fades and the Taliban mount an offensive to reclaim lost ground.
“I do feel like the pieces are coming together,” Gates said while touring a combat outpost to the west of Kandahar.
