Bombing Libya Will Not Be A Joke



Libya: General Petraeus Jokes About Bombing Libya -- The Telegraph

General David Petraeus, commander of Nato troops in Afghanistan has been caught joking with Robert Gates, the Pentagon chief, on microphone about taking military action against Col Muammar Gaddafi.

“Welcome back, sir,” Gen Petraeus said to Mr Gates as he arrived at Kabul airport on Monday, unapparently aware of an open microphone. “How are things? Flying a little bigger plane than normal. You gonna launch some attacks on Libya or something?”

The United States Defence Secretary responded by laughing and replying: "Yeah, exactly". The jocular tone was unfortunate, not least because Mr Gates's first task in Kabul was to apologise to President Hamid Karzai for civilian casualties caused by a US Apache helicopter.
