Few Americans See Obama As Strong Military Leader -- Reuters

Only 17 percent of Americans see President Barack Obama as a strong and decisive military leader, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll taken after the United States and its allies began bombing Libya.

Nearly half of those polled view Obama as a cautious and consultative commander-in-chief and more than a third see him as indecisive in military matters.

Obama was widely criticized in 2009 for his months-long consultations with senior aides and military chiefs on whether to send more troops to Afghanistan. Critics called it dithering, but he said such a big decision required careful deliberation. He eventually dispatched 30,000 more troops.

Update: Reuters/Ipsos poll: Obama seen as cautious commander-in-chief -- Reuters

My Comment: Ipsos has not released (or I cannot find) the questions that were asked in this poll. I understand from one source that many of the questions asked in the poll were skewed to produce a favorable result for President Obama. If true .... this would not surprise me. Polls can be structured to produce any result .... hence the need to see the type of questions that were used in producing this result.

As to my own personal opinion .... I do not see President Obama as a strong and decisive leader but one who is cautious and careful .... but then again ....this what I want to see in a Commander in Chief. As to who is my favorite President ... hmmmm ..... the President that always impressed me the most as a strong and decisive leader .... but who was also thoughtful on what the office of the Presidency was all about on the international stage .... was President Reagan. Like all Presidents in the past he made mistakes .... but he was very effective in minimizing the impact that these mistakes had on the U.S. and on the office of the Presidency. I can only hope that President Obama will also rise to this level.
