Pentagon Blocks Popular Websites From Japan To Free Bandwidth

DOD Staff Can't View Amazon, YouTube Videos From Japan -- Tech Flash

The Pentagon has temporarily blocked the ability of Department of Defense workers to watch YouTube, Amazon and Google video streams from Japan to free up bandwidth that is already under enormous strain.

The Associated Press is reporting that the Pentagon’s Cyber Command took the action at the request of the U.S. Pacific Command.

My Comment: This tells me two things .... (1) it does not take much to cause disruptions in internet traffic, and (2) that our military is heavily dependent on it for its communications.
