William J. Donovan, the Buffalo native and U. S. intelligence mastermind during World War II, had to fend off spying efforts that the Pentagon and FBI directed at him.
That’s one of the revelations in “Wild Bill Donovan: The Spymaster Who Created the OSS and Modern American Espionage,” published last month by journalist Douglas Waller.

My Comment: One more interesting tidbit of information on "Wild Bill" Donovan .... he is the ONLY American to have received America's FOUR highest awards, The Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Service Medal and the National Security Medal.
