Osama bin Laden, head of al-Qaida. The Saudi Arabian native was killed in his three-story walled complex in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 1. As the head of al-Qaida, he is considered responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001 airplane attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the 2000 attack on the USS Cole.
