As with all Special Forces units, SEAL Team Six is masked by a thick balaclava of secrecy.

Formed in the aftermath of the botched 1980 attempt to rescue 52 Americans held hostage in the U.S. embassy in Tehran, the unit is tasked with carrying out highly secret missions that are often officially denied by the US military and government.

As a result, they are often referred to as ‘black operatives’ or more simply ‘black ops’ – a term so beloved by the writers of Hollywood action movies.
