Report: Obama To Withdraw 10,000 U.S. Troops From Afghanistan This Year -- Politico

President Barack Obama could announce a drawdown of 10,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year — more than some Pentagon advisors had recommended, according to a report Tuesday.

Administration officials from the Defense Department and other agencies told the Los Angeles Times that when the president speaks Wednesday night about the troop withdrawal, he could lay out a plan to bring home about 10,000 troops by the end of the year.
