Gates Reflects On Service As U.S. Defense Secretary -- U.S. Department of Defense

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates regards it as his sacred trust to ensure U.S. warfighters have what they need to succeed. As he said a tearful farewell to U.S. troops in Afghanistan on his last overseas trip earlier this month, they let him know his service, too, was appreciated. Gates is scheduled to retire June 30, 2011.
