Tributes were paid today to a British soldier, believed to have been in the SAS, who was killed by small arms fire in Afghanistan.

Corporal Lloyd Newell, from the Parachute Regiment, died in an an operation in Helmand on Thursday, and is one of three soldiers to be killed in fighting in just two days.

The second serviceman to be killed was craftsman Andrew Found, 27, a father-of-two from Whitby, Yorkshire, of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, serving with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
