Russian Colonel Convicted Of Treason Over U.S. Spy Ring



Top Russian Spy Given 25 Years After Betraying Secret Code Of Anna Chapman And Nine Other Undercover Agents To The U.S. -- The Daily Mail

A former senior Russian intelligence officer was convicted of betraying ten fellow spies working undercover in the U.S.

The Moscow District Military Court found Colonel Alexander Poteyev guilty of high treason and desertion and sentenced him to 25 years in prison after a trial that was closed to the public.

Poteyev fled to America shortly before U.S. authorities announced they had busted the spy ring last summer.

The spy left his wife behind in Russia.
