One morning in 2007, at a semi-detached house in Leicester, Helen Gray received a letter from her 19-year-old soldier son Chris, serving with the Royal Anglians in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

‘There’s no need to worry, Mum,’ he wrote cheerfully, anticipating action. ‘Everyone is trying to get in some trigger time.’

Then she heard a voice say ‘There’s a man at the door from the Army,’ and suddenly her world collapsed. She learned that Chris had been killed in a firefight with the Taliban on Friday, April 13, becoming the 53rd British soldier to die in Afghanistan, a total that has now reached 371.

My Comment: I am looking forward to see this documentary on my side of the Atlantic Ocean .... but I suspect that it will not be shown until the Afghan war is long over for us.
