White House Pulls $800 Million In Aid To Pakistan -- L.A. Times
Obama Chief of Staff William Daley confirms that one-third of the annual $2 billion in military aid is suspended while, as one Mideast expert puts it, the U.S.-Pakistan relationship is in a downward spiral with no bottom in sight.
With ties strained in the wake of the U.S. military killing of Osama bin Laden within one mile of Pakistan's military academy, the Obama administration said it will suspend one-third of its $2 billion in annual military aid to Pakistan.
President Obama's chief of staff, William Daley, confirmed Sunday that the U.S. will hold back $800 million of the money the administration had committed to assist Pakistan's military.
