Defiant Gadhafi Vows to Fight -- Wall Street Journal

Rebels Move to Take Control in Capital

TRIPOLI, Libya—Fresh gun fire erupted in spots inside and near the capital Wednesday, hours after Col. Moammar Gadhafi called on residents from an unknown location to "free Tripoli" in a radio address and the rebel-led council moved to assert control over the capital by relocating its headquarters to the capital.

A day after triumphant rebel fighters stormed the strongman's fortress compound in the capital, rebels wandering in the compound had to take briefly cover from fire, some running and others speeding toward the gate in pickup trucks before returning, the Associated Press reported. Pro-Gadhafi loyalists continue to fight on the outskirts of Libya's capital, and heavy fire also has broken out near the Rixos Hotel, where foreign journalists are being confined by pro-Gadhafi fighters, according to news reports.
