Is The African Union Still Supporting Gaddafi?



African Union Refuses To Recognise Libyan Rebels As "Legitimate Authority" -- The Telegraph

The African Union refused to recognise the National Transitional Council as the legitimate authority in Libya, calling instead for an "inclusive government".

Libya's Muammar Gaddafi has long been one of the biggest benefactors to African leaders ostracised by the West, and was the president of the African Union up until 2010.

"Libya should work towards forming "an all-inclusive transitional government", the AU said after a mini-summit of heads of state at its headquarters in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital.

Jacob Zuma, South Africa's president, said after the meeting that the rebel NTC was not yet the "legitimate" authority in Libya.

My Comment: Money buys loyalty, and Gaddafi was known to spread the case among many African countries. I guess many African leaders are having problems in accepting this new reality.
