Military Aircraft Moved To W.Va. During Hurricane Irene -- Washington Post/AP

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Several dozen military aircraft are waiting out Hurricane Irene in West Virginia.

Lt. Col. David Lester of the West Virginia National Guard says eight helicopters from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and six aircraft from the Maryland Air National Guard’s 175th Air Wing are at the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg.

Several Marine helicopters from the Washington, D.C., area are at Camp Dawson, the West Virginia National Guard’s training facility in Preston County.
