Colonel Gaddafi was hiding ‘like a rat’ last night while his followers fought to the death in Tripoli.
In a desperate last stand, they were battling street by street to stop the triumphant rebels finally seizing power from the brutal tyrant.
Heavy gunfire, sniper attacks and tank explosions rocked the capital. Opposition commanders claim to control 85 per cent of Tripoli but, in a sign of the intensity of the fighting, the city’s only functioning hospital was ‘overflowing’ with 5,000 wounded.

My Comment: With Gaddafi's regime teetering on collapse, and rebels tightening their grip on the capital, this conflict will soon come to a close but the final number of casualties are going to be high.
