Is Pakistan At War With the United States? -- American Interest

Possibly, or at least part of its government may be.

The United States government believes it has evidence linking the Haqqani network, a terrorist organization which has repeatedly carried out attacks against US government personnel and positions, with the government of Pakistan. As ABC News (Australia) reports,

The United States says there is evidence linking the Pakistani government to the militant group that carried out last week’s attack on the US embassy in Kabul.

The US ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, claims there are links between the Pakistani government and high-profile terrorist group the Haqqani network.

My Comment: For as long as I can remember, U.S. officials have been on a constant drumbeat to Pakistan that they must reign in their Afghan-linked militant groups. Unfortunately .... there has been zero progress on this front, a reason why now many are speculating that Pakistan .... or some parts of the government .... are now at war with the U.S.

What is my take .... U.S. - Pakistan relations have been an unmitigated disaster .... further compounded by the discovery this year that Bin Laden was living only a mile away from Pakistan's premier military academy. When there is no trust .... the relationship in dead. In the U.S. - Pakistan relationship .... this lack of trust has now evolved in Pak-lionked militant groups attacking Western targets in Afghanistan.
