Big Cuts May 'Cripple' U.S. Industry Base: Panetta -- Defense News

Nearly $1 trillion in military spending cuts over the next decade would "cripple" the U.S. defense industrial base, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned, as he continued to urge Congress to look at other parts of the federal budget to lower the country's debt.

Panetta's comments come as the Pentagon faces more than $400 billion in cuts to planned spending over the next decade mandated as part of an agreement between Congress and the White House to raise the U.S. debt ceiling.
