Israeli Soldier Freed By Hamas After Being Held For Five Years Shows Signs Of Malnourishment

Photo: Gilad Shalit appeared weak, pale and extremely thin as he arrived in Israel's Tel Nof Air Force base this morning and was given oxygen after complaining of feeling nauseous. He said he was 'very excited' to be freed and has now been reunited with his family in Israel. Hundreds of Palestinians are being released today as part of a prisoner exchange with Shalit. They were driven into Gaza on a bus which was escorted by heavily armed guards.

Freed Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit is showing signs of malnourishment and briefly lost consciousness on his journey back to Israel today, after he was released from more than five years in Hamas captivity.

Shalit appeared weak, pale and extremely thin as he arrived in Israel's Tel Nof Air Force base this morning and was given oxygen after complaining of feeling nauseous.

The 25-year-old, who is also showing signs of lack of exposure to the sun, fainted on the helicopter journey to the base after being escorted over the Egyptian border.

They clearly did not feed him properly for the past 5 years. Now we know why Hamas did not want the Red Cross to see him.
