The veteran revolutionary's trial in France has allowed him one last chance to rail against the world, reports Kim Willsher in Paris.

Ilich Ramirez Sánchez – aka Carlos the Jackal – the self-confessed "cold-blooded" sharpshooter and international revolutionary, does not get out much these days.

Life in a French jail, where he has been since 1995, is also less comfortable now that Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has reportedly stopped sending the Havana cigars. Moreover, the prison authorities have confiscated his nail clippers and refused to allow him to chat with fellow inmate, the former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega.

My Comment: Talk about having a massive ego .... and in denial of the terrible harm he has done to the families of his victims.
