Clashes On Libyan - Niger Border Reported

Niger Military Clashes With Group From Libya -- The Telegraph

Niger's army has clashed with a heavily armed convoy of vehicles that entered its territory from Libya towards, according to security sources.

Military sources said Nigerien authorities killed 13 in the convoy and took a further 13 prisoners after the incident, which took place on Sunday around the remote northern Nigerien mining town of Arlit just south of the border with Libya. One soldier was killed in the clashes.

It was not clear if the fighters were part of Col Muammar Gaddafi's fleeing entourage or members of an al-Qaeda-linked cell active in the north.
