Another Disturbing "On The Ground Report" From Syria



A Rare Look Inside Syria, Under Assad's Thumb -- CBS

HOMS, Syria - The deadly violence in Syria has been growing for ten months now. Protesters are demanding the dictator, Bashar al-Assad, go.

For 40 years, his family has held Syria in an iron grip, and he is determined to hang on at any price.

Assad has kept most foreign journalists out. CBS News applied for visas six months ago.

On Wednesday, CBS News correspondent Elizabeth Palmer was finally granted official access. She saw only what the government wanted her to see, but the brutality and violence was still up close.

The group of Western journalists were midway through their government-supervised tour of Homs when the area came under fire.

My Comment: The above CBS video and this CNN video are clearly showing the escalating violence in Syria. The Syrian government is losing control, and the body count is rising. The Libyan civil war was horrible, but the Syrian Civil war is now escalating to something that is far worse.
