Security Must Really 'Suck' At Russian Arm Factories

The Villager Who Bought A Crate Of Firewood... Only To Find It Was Full Of Kalashnikovs -- The Telegraph

A villager in provincial Russia has caused a national scandal after finding 79 Kalashnikov assault rifles in crates that he bought to use as firewood.

The crates were supposed to be disposed of from the factory in the central city of Izhevsk where Kalashnikovs are manufactured. Instead, they were sold to the unnamed villager, who believed they were empty.

The man had hoped to use the wood as fuel for his stove - until he opened them and saw what was inside.

He called the police and an investigation was launched amid concerns about security at the nationally-renowned Izhmash arms factory.

My Comment: I do not buy the story that someone was clumsy .... in my book .... someone was trying to steal a few crates of weapons to make some extra money. So much for security at this "vaunted" arms factory. But then again .... so much for security at most Russian factories.
