Pentagon Says ‘Fundamental Strategy’ In Afghanistan Is Sound -- Washington Post
The Pentagon said Monday that it would make no changes to its “fundamental strategy” in Afghanistan despite a week of crises that have worsened the already strained partnership between the Afghan government and U.S. and NATO forces.
U.S. officials acknowledged that tensions remained high in Kabul and that distrust had not dissipated in the wake of the Saturday killing of two U.S. military officers who had been working alongside Afghan partners within the well-protected confines of the Afghan Interior Ministry.

My Comment: When you read the news and all that you see is bad news in Afghanistan, questions on the reliability of our Afghan partners, U.S. downgrading their ties with the Afghans, and the Defense Department trying their best to minimize this bad news .... sighhh ... we are in serious trouble. If after 10 years (plus) of warfare this is all that we have to show for .... this should be the neon light going off in our head that this strategy is not working, and may in fact be exacerbating the situation. Time for a change or (minimally) a re-evaluation .... but I suspect that in an election year like this one the White House focus is elsewhere.
Update: Ooooppppssss .... I was wrong. It`s all Bush`s fault.
