Meet Britain's luckiest soldier Denis Larubi, who escaped death twice in two days after being shot by a Taliban sniper, thanks to his bullet-proof body armour.

The Lance Corporal's first lucky escape came when the sniper's round missed him by mere inches when the shots struck a bullet-proof glass just in front of his face in a sentry tower.

The next day, Lance Corporal Larubi, 30, defied the odds again when a bullet fired by the same marksman clipped his rifle, sending it speeding into his left shoulder - but was stopped by his £2,000 Osprey Mk4 Kevlar vest.
