U.S. Marines Shift From Okinawa To Guam


U.S., Japan Scale Back Okinawa Base Plan -- Wall Street Journal

The U.S. and Japanese governments are scaling back a controversial plan to relocate American military forces in Japan, bowing to intense local opposition and underscoring the inability of Japan's weak political leadership to fulfill its major policy pledges.

The two governments Wednesday said they have agreed to make "adjustments" to their six-year-old accord aimed at reducing the U.S.'s military presence on the southern island of Okinawa.
