China's Advances In Space Unnerve US Military Leaders -- MSNBC/Space

Nation is quickly developing technology with indisputable defense applications.

The rise of China's space program may pose a potentially serious military threat to the United States down the road, top American intelligence officials contend.

China continues to develop technology designed to destroy or disable satellites, which makes the United States and other nations with considerable on-orbit assets nervous. Even Beijing's ambitious human spaceflight plans are cause for some concern, since most space-technology advances could have military applications, officials say.

My Comment: For as long as I can remember, the U.S. has always positioned itself to control the high ground .... especially in space. But this monopoly of being the only serious player in space is now coming to an end .... especially as China has made it very clear that their intention is to also be a major player in space, and if they are not the dominant player, to make sure that they have the ability to deny the high ground to anyone else.
